Presented as part of the Qatar-Canada Year of Culture, this concert brings the sound of Canada to Doha under conductor Charles Olivieri-Munroe, winner of First Prize at the prestigious Prague Spring International Conducting Competition. The programme showcases four Canadian composers rarely heard in this part of the world; Morawetz’s vibrant Carnival Overture, Mercure’s colourful Kaleidoscope, and Hétu’s evocative On the Banks of the Saint-Maurice River, followed after the interval by Morawetz’s ambitious Symphony No. 2. Don’t miss the chance to discover a musical tradition as vast and varied as Canada itself.
