The evening closes with the beloved Haffner Serenade, a sweeping and joyful work that captures Mozart at his most celebratory.

On 19 December, the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ali Concert Hall hosts the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) for the very first time, presenting a programme of famous classical works by great composers such as Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Bizet, Mozart, John Williams, and Henry Mancini. The orchestra will be conducted by German maestro Andreas Weiser.

Known for its innovative programming and unique sound, QPO blends Western symphonic traditions with the rich musical heritage of the Arab world, creating performances that are globally resonant and deeply rooted in the region’s cultural legacy.

‘What would the classical masterpieces sound like if their composers had lived in the Arab world, immersed in maqams, quarter tones, and intricate Arabic rhythms?’

Arabesque is a novel concept in which Ghady Rahbani and Omar Rahbany delve into the richness of Arabic music within the framework of the classical orchestral setup. Accompanied by the world-class Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, this two-act performance, lasting approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, reimagines the dialogue between Eastern and Western musical traditions.

Home Alone in Concert

A true holiday favorite, this beloved comedy classic will be screened with its score performed live by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.

Celebrate this classic in a landmark cultural as Kuwait welcomes “Home Alone in Concert” for the very first time on 20 December. The evening features a full screening of the film on a giant screen with John Williams’s Academy Award–nominated score performed live to picture by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.

Since its 2013 debut, “Home Alone in Concert” has become a global tradition, uniting cinema and live performance in a festive experience for all the family. This year also marks the film’s 35th anniversary (released in 1990), starring Macaulay Culkin as eight-year-old Kevin McCallister, accidentally left behind when his family departs for Christmas and forced to defend his home against two hapless burglars. With two Academy Award nominations—including Best Original Score and Best Original Song (“Somewhere in My Memory”)—Home Alone has secured its place as one of the most cherished cinema classics, perfect for audiences of all ages.
