Eunhye Lee

Eunhye Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1985. She began piano classes at the age of 4 and flute at the age of 9. She was passionate about playing the flute and won many competitions in Korea such as Seoul National University Winds competition, the Seoul Flute Festival competition​, and Music Journal Competition.

When she was 17 she met Philippe Boucly who plays in the Bavarian Radio Orchestra in Munich as a Principal Flutist and he changed Eunhye’s musical life. In his masterclass, Philippe Boucly took her under his wing and she studied under him in Munich. When she turned 18 and graduated from Seoul Arts High school, she flew to Germany where she earned her Diploma and Master’s diploma (Meisterklassen diplom) at Musikhochschule in Munich.

Furthermore, she loved to be a part of the orchestra and chamber music. She was a member of Jugend Münchener Philharmonic Orchestra with Sir Colin Davis, Münchener bläser Quintett, Nürnberger Symphoniker Orchestra, and Münchener Symphoniker Orchestra as an intern.

Since 2012, she has been a Principal Piccolo player in the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.

Sergiy Konyakhyn

Born in Ukraine in 1984. Sergiy graduated from the National Tchaikovsky Music Academy, class of S.Belousov/ B.Soika and Hochschule für  Musik und Theater in Munich, where he completed his double bass studies with Professor K.Trumpf, Professor R. Patkolo and Professor N.Shehata.

After Sergiy was enrolled as a student in Munich, he became a member of The International Double Bass Quartet “Bassiona Amorosa”(2007 – 2010).

Sergiy has got his professional experience in the following orchestras :

National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (2004 – 2006),

Georgisches Kammerorchester Ingolstadt (2006 – 2008),

Bamberger Symphoniker (2008 – 2009),

Rundfunk – Symphonieorchester Berlin (2009 – 2010),

Staatskapelle Berlin (2010 – 2011).

Since 2011 Sergiy is a member of Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.

Sandor Onodi

Radovan Hetsch

Born in Prague, Czech Republic. Radovan studied at the Prague Conservatory with Zdenek Benda and Kvetoslav Borovicka, and at the Academy of Music with Jiri Hudec, as well as in master classes of chamber music, at the Prague Mozart Academy in 1993 with Maurice Bourge, Boris Pergamenschikow, Sandor Vegh, Radovan Vlatkovic and others.

He won prizes at the international double-bass competitions, in Brno, Czech Republic in 1998 and Markneukirchen, Germany in 1999. In 2000, his solo performances of the Vanhal concerto with the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra and the Czechoslovakian Chamber Orchestra were broadcast by Czech Radio.

In years 1996-2008, he was a member of the Czech Nonet, renowned chamber music ensemble. With this ensemble Radovan Hetsch played many chamber music concerts and tours in USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and others, as well he recorded several CD recordings with this group.

He was also a member of the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra (SOCR) in 2003-2004 and has been a member of the Prague Chamber Orchestra (PKO) 2003-2007. In 2007, he became a principal double-bass player in the Czech National Symphony Orchestra (CNSO).

During his musical life in Prague, Radovan Hetsch also played many concerts with early music ensembles such as Musica Florea – Marek Stryncl, Collegium Marianum – Jana Semeradova, Collegium 1704 – Vaclav Luks, Robert Hugo, Vaclav Navrat, and Jiri Kotouc and had a B@S duo with his sister Simona Hecova, violoncello.

Since 2008, he is a member of a new philharmonic orchestra in the middle East, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) in Doha, Qatar. In summer 2010, Radovan Hetsch spent one month in Castleton, Virginia, USA under the baton of famous conductor Lorin Maazel. In January 2011, he played in Abu Dhabi with maestro Valery Gergiev and the World Orchestra for Peace.

 

Gennady Krutikov

Gennady Krutikov was born in 1970 in Moscow, Russia. He started to play Cello at the age of 7 and switched to Double Bass when he was 16 years old. Gennady Krutikov studied at the Tchaikovsky Academic Music College in Moscow (1985-89) under Mikhail Kekshoev and at the Moscow State Conservatory (1989-94) under Professor Lev Rakov.

In 1995, Gennady received the Second prize of the 1st International Serge Koussevitzky Double Bass Competition in Moscow. From 1994 till 2018, he worked in the Russian National Orchestra (RNO) under the baton of the world-known conductor and pianist Mikhail Pletnev. Gennady had performed as Associated Principal Bass for 15 years, since 2003.

Gennady Krutikov performed as Principal Bass in RNO joint projects with the London Philharmonic orchestra (2012, London, conductor V. Jurowski), the Seattle Symphony orchestra (2006, Seattle, conductor Gerard Schwartz), Beijing Symphony Orchestra (2013, Beijing, conductor Jose Serebrier), the American-Russian orchestra at Festival Napa Valley (2018, Conductors Laurence Foster and Michael Stern).

From 1995 to 2008, Gennady was a participant of RNO Contrabass Quintet, led by professor Rustem Gabdullin. Concerts of the RNO Contrabass Quintet were successfully held in many venues in Russia, Singapore, Malaysia, and the USA.

Gennady participated in the recording of more than 70 CDs of Russian National Orchestra by Deutsche Grammophon and Pentatone. Among them there are all the symphonies of Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Shostakovich, works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Taneyev, Glazunov, Scriabin, as well as the Grammy Award-2003 recording “Peter and the Wolf” by Prokofiev.

Gennady has been playing in the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra since February 2019.

 

Thomas Gnausch

Thomas never wavered from his calling.  At 6, he received his first music lesson on the piano. Thomas started playing the clarinet when he attended a specialised school for music from 12 to 19 years old.   In Luebeck’s University for Music, he trained under renowned clarinettists Professor Sabine Meyer and Professor Reiner Wehle. During this time, he already started to perform in different orchestras like the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Theatre Luebeck, Komische Oper Berlin and the Deutsche Oper in Berlin

Finally, he accomplished his postgraduate degree at the prestigious University of Stuttgart with Professor Norbert Kaiser.  Shortly after, he became the Sub-principal at the Theatre Eisenach until he was offered another opportunity with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra playing the second clarinet.

Simone Zanacchi

Born in Italy, Simone Zanacchi could show particular music qualities by the age of 8. He started to study clarinet in the conservatory of his town in Piacenza, and at the age of 19 he won the first of seven chamber music and soloist prize competitions. Then he met several clarinet teachers – members of the most important Italian orchestras and worldwide renowned soloists like F. Meloni, R. Parisi, T. Friedli and P. Beltramini – learning a multifaceted and deep knowledge of his instrument.
At the same time Simone had the opportunity to collaborate with the most important orchestras in Italy (National Radio and Television Symphonic Orchestra, Theater La Fenice, Theater Verdi of Trieste, La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, Italian Philharmonic Orchestra) and some in Europe (Goteborg Opera), gaining a wide experience in several kinds of orchestra repertoires like opera, ballet, symphony, jazz and light music.
In 2008 he joined the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra for the position of principal bass clarinet.

He is always dedicated to develop his skills, searching and updating materials related to his instruments and at the same time spreading his knoledge teaching to students of all the ages.

Kirill Bogatyrev

Kirill Bogatyrev began his music studies with Emmanuel Fishman in Saint-Petersburg at the age of 5, and later continued for 11 years at the Music Lyceum of Saint-Petersburg – the famous school for exceptional talents and prodigy children.

Then Mr. Bogatyrev graduated with distinction with a Master’s Degree in Cello and Chamber Music from the St. Petersburg Conservatory, where his professors were S. Slovachevsky, S. Roldugin and A. Dogadin.

From 1992 to 1993, Mr. Bogatyrev started his orchestral carrier as a principal cellist with the Capella Symphony Orchestra. From 1994 to 1999, he was a member of the Mariinsky-Kirov Orchestra under the direction of Valery Gergiev. From 1999 to 2001, he continued as a principal cellist of the Amazonas Philharmonic in Manaus, Brazil, and from 2001 to 2008 he was the leader of the cello section of the Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP).

Mr. Bogatyrev was also cello section guest principal of the Londrina Symphony and the Londrina Soloists Chamber Orchestra in Parana, Brazil, from 2003 to 2008. He appeared as a soloist with the Amazonas Philharmonic, Londrina Symphony, Ribeirao Preto Symphony and QPO and gave appearances at various events and festivals in major cities in Brazil and around South America.

Along with being a founding member of the string quartet Quarteto Romanov, Mr. Bogatyrev was cello professor at the USP – University of Sao-Paulo in Rebeirao Preto, and in the Sao Paulo Municipal Music Academy.

Since 2008, he has been co-principal cellist of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2019, he participated in CD recording with violinist Reto Kuppel, Marcus Bosch and QPO.

Mr. Bogatyrev plays a cello made by Euginio Prezza, Italy 1993.

Hassan Moataz El Molla

Born in Cairo in 1980, Hassan began to study cello at the age of 9 at the Cairo Conservatory with Professor Ayman El-Hanbouly. Determined to master the instrument, he grew up to be a professional musician. He graduated in 2001 with excellent degrees.

After playing his first solo concert with the Cairo Opera Orchestra at the age of 16, he joined the orchestra a year later. He was a member of the Cairo Opera House in 1995-2000, then a member of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, where he was principal cellist 2004 until 2008.

From the early stage, Hassan won several local prizes, among them the first prize at the Arab Radio and TV competition in 1994. At the Rostropovich International Cello Competition in Paris, he won the special appreciation of the competition patron, a world famous Russian cellist.

In 1997, he obtained a certificate of merit for his chamber music performance at the International Festival of Schleswig-Holstein in Germany. Hassan played with many international orchestras such as the Mediterranean Sea Orchestra in France (1995- 1998), the International Youth Orchestra Schleswig-Holstein in Germany (1997) and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim in the orchestra tours in Spain, Italy, UK (1999-2008).

He attended several cello master classes such as the International Rostropovich Workshop in Baku 1998, Yo-Yo Ma in Weimar, Germany 1999, the Spanish cellist Lluís Claret 1995, 1996 and 1998, the Brazilian cellist Enrico Kanerow and Lynn Harrell in Lübeck, Germany 2000.

As a principal cellist he participated in the international UBS Verbier orchestra in 2006. Then he was invited several times to play as a member of the Verbier UBS Chamber Orchestra, working with many renowned conductors and musicians such as J. Livien, L. Slatkin, Y. Bashmet, Gatti, and M. Misky. In 2007, he took part in the Salzburg Festival playing new compositions of one of the most influential artists of our time, the French conductor and composer of contemporary classical music, Pierre Boulez.

In 2009, Hassan was invited to play the same composition but as a soloist, a great opportunity to work intensively and closely with Pierre Boulez. Hassan’s performance as a soloist during the Solo concert tour of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra (2008), when he played Haydn Sinfonia Concertante for 4 solo instruments violin, cello, oboe and bassoon under Daniel Barenboim, brought him wide acclaim.

On the occasion of the 85th Birthday of Pierre Boulez (2010), Hassan played the solo violoncello of Boulez Messagesquisse for solo cello and 6 violoncelli of the West-Eastern Diwan Orchestra under Barenboim in one of his most significant solo concerts. His concert only cover a majority of international cello pieces, but he is also very well known for his mastering of the classical Arab music repertoires. He participated in many Arab music festivals and worked closely with the most famous Arab singers and composers. He also did a lot of recordings of many songs and music tracks of famous movies.

Since 2008, Hassan joined the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) as a co-principal cellist. Besides his mastering of the cello, Hassan has proven his skills in playing the Rababa, a Persian-Arab instrument dated back to the 8th century and considered to be the mother of all string instruments. In the first concerto for Rababa and Orchestra of Marcel Khalife, which premiere was on the occasion of celebrating the Qatar National Day Dec. 2011, Hassan played the solo of Rababa under the conductor Thomas Kalb and knew how to dazzle the audience with a solo performance of fascinating brilliance.

Harald Georgi

Harald Georgi, born in Germany, studied at the famous universities of music ‘Carl Maria von Weber’ in Dresden and ‘Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin with Michael Ameln and Michael Sanderling.

Additional to his studies he already started playing in different German orchestras, volunteering with Rundfunk-Sinfonie-Orchester Berlin, Berliner Symphoniker, later with Staatstheater Kassel und Staatstheater Saarbrücken. He holds the position of sub-principal at Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau for about 7 years, before he accepted the position of cello tutti at the newly founded Qatar Philharmonie Orchestra in the year 2008.

Beside his work as an orchestra musician he enjoys playing chamber music, as well concerts as soloist, with Philharmonisches Orchester Bad Reichenhall (Gemany, 2002, 2003) and Sinfonietta Bardou (France, 2015).

Harald Georgi also teaches the cello at music schools in Germany, and since 2014 at Qatar Music Academy. As couch of the string section he likes to share his music passion and orchestra experiences to a new generation of students, at Sinfonietta Bardou (France) and at Qatar Youth Orchestra (Qatar Music Academy).
