Mozart & Bartók

May 23, 2026 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM Katara Cultural Village, Opera House

Led by Austin Chanu with Concertmaster Joo Young Oh, this programme moves from Mozart’s sharp wit to Bartók’s full-throttle orchestral color.

Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro Overture kicks things off in a rush of energy, bright, fast, and instantly likeable. His Flute Concerto then brings a lighter, more lyrical mood, featuring QPO’s Aleksandr Haskin as the soloist.

After the interval, Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra takes over with bold rhythms, vivid sound, and one standout moment after another across the whole ensemble, ending in a huge finale. This is an evening that should not be missed!

Vast in scale yet built with architectural clarity, the Eighth unfolds in long, powerful arcs with solemn brass chorales, towering climaxes, and moments of unexpected tenderness. From the restless drive of the opening movement to the deep stillness of the Adagio, Bruckner balances spiritual intensity with awe-inspiring sound, culminating in a finale that gathers the symphony’s themes into a triumphant conclusion.

CANCELLED – QPO Presents: Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2

April 5, 2026 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM Qatar National Convention Centre, Auditorium 3
Under the baton of Elias Grandy, the orchestra is joined by acclaimed pianist Joseph Moog for an evening that moves from towering Romantic drama to Viennese charm.

The concert concludes with Johann Strauss II’s Sphärenklänge (Music of the Spheres), a shimmering waltz that captures the elegance and sparkle of Vienna, closing the evening with delight.
