Kirill Bogatyrev holds a Master’s Degree in Cello and Chamber Music from the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia, where he studied from 1992 to 1999. His professors were S. Slovachevsky, S. Roldugin and A. Dogadin.
In 1992-1993 Mr. Bogatyrev was a principal cellist with the Capella State Symphony Orchestra and Virtuosi 2000 St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra. From 1994 to 1999 he was a cellist in the famous Mariinsky Kirov Orchestra in St. Petersburg under the direction of Valery Gergiev. From 1999 to 2001 he was the principal cellist of the Amazonas Philharmonic in Manaus, Brazil, and from 2001 to 2008 he was co-principal and guest principal cellist with Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP).
Mr. Bogatyrev was a regular guest principal cellist with the Londrina Symphony Orchestra and Londrina Soloists Chamber Orchestra in Parana, Brazil, in 2003-2008. He appeared as a soloist with the Manaus Philharmonic, Londrina Symphony Orchestra and Ribeirao Preto Symphony Orchestra and gave appearances at various events and festivals in the principal cities in Brazil and around South America. He participated in several world tours with the highly-acclaimed Kirov Symphony Orchestra and the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSESP). Along with being a founding member of the string quartet Quarteto Romanov, Mr. Bogatyrev taught cello in the Sao Paulo Music School.
Since 2008 he has been a co-principal cellist of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mr. Bogatyrev is married and has one daughter. Kirill plays a cello made by Euginio Prezza, Italy 1993.
