Julie Sgarro

Julie Sgarro was born in 1984 in Saint Mandé (France).

She started to play the Harp when she was 7 in the « Conservatoire de musique de Toulon » with Vassilia Briano. In 2001 she decided to go to Germany to further her studies in Germany with the legendary Xavier De Maistre ( solo Harpist of the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra) in the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg” and later in the Karajanakademie with Marie-Pierre Langlamet (Harpist of Berlin Philharmonic). She won prices in many harp competitions like “Martine Geliot” in Lille and “Reinl Stiftung” in Vienna. Julie Sgarro started to play in orchestras since she was 15. She played and performed with such famous orchestras as the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic and the Gewandhaus orchestra.

In 2010, she won the principal harp chair with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.
