Ivaylo Daskalov was born in Varna, Bulgaria. He started his cello education under his father and continued his studies in Sofia with Professor A. Krastev. In 2001 he was invited by Robert Cohen to Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland, where he graduated with a Diploma di Perfezionamento in 2004 and a Soloist Diploma in 2006. He took part in master classes given by Boris Pergamenschikow, Harvey Shapiro and Miklos Perenyi.

In 2003, Ivaylo Daskalov was appointed Assistant Professor to Professor Cohen at CSI in Lugano. Since 2004, he has frequently collaborated as a member of the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana. During the season 2007-2008 he was also a member of the Varna Opera Philharmonic Orchestra.

He takes part in festivals in Italy, Switzerland, England and other countries across Europe.
