Hassan Moataz El Molla was born in Cairo in 1980. He joined the Cairo Conservatory at the age of nine to study with Prof. Ayman el Hanbouly. He graduated on 2001 with high degrees.After playing his first solo concert with the Cairo Opera Orchestra at the age of 16, he joined the orchestra a year later. He was a member of the Cairo Opera House in 1995-2000, then a member of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, where he was principal cellist in 2004 until 2008, and then joined the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 1997 Hassan Moataz El Molla obtained a certificate of merit for his performance in chamber music from the International Festival of Schleswig-Holstein in Germany and another from the International Cello Competition Rostropovich in Paris. Hassan participated in several international activities such as the Mediterranean Sea Orchestra in France (1995, 1996 and 1998), the International Youth Orchestra Schleswig-Holstein in Germany (1997) and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim in 1999, 2006, and 2007 as a principal cellist.
As a soloist, he performed with the Cairo Opera Orchestra, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra and the Academy of Arts Orchestra. He participated in the international UBS Verbier orchestra as a principal cellist in 2006, working with many well known conductors and musicians such as J. Livien, L. Slatkin, Y. Bashmet, Gatti, M. Misky. He is also a member of UBS Verbier Chamber Orchestra.
He attended several cello workshops such as the International Rostropovich Workshop in Baku 1998, Yo-Yo Ma in Weimar, Germany 1999, the Spanish cellist Lluís Claret 1995, 1996 and 1998, the Brazilian cellist Enrico Kanerow and Lynn Harrell in Lübeck, Germany 2000. He joined the orchestra and chamber music workshop with Pierre Boulez in the Salzburg Festival 2007 as a principal cellist.
